Imagining the Imagine Hockey Board Game

It all began way back in the 1970s when a 15 year old kid saw a mail order ad in the Hockey News for a Hockey Board game. A hockey player himself he was very intrigued and excited about this so the young kid and hockey player bought the game. The game arrived and after learning how to play it he became further and further immersed as he set up a league, played a schedule with standings, and even tracked player stats. He played the game for hours until he set off for the Alberta College of Art and Design.
Fast forward to present day where the boy is now a man with 35 years experience in art and design with past clients such as Hockey Canada and the Edmonton Oilers amongst others. All those years this man remembered how much fun that hockey game was. One day he was going through bins of things that were put away years ago. Lo and behold there was that glorious hockey board game in tatters but still intact. Then the light bulb came on and he thought out loud. “Why dont I design a new hockey board game!”.

Thats when he went down the rabbit hole and before he could jump back out he was deep in mathematical equations, hockey statistics, rules, algorithms and design. testing, game trials, rejigging, testing, game trials, repeat and so it on as he worked away like a mathematical Frankenstien trying to get the formula just right.
Finally the designer emerged with a newly invented Hockey Board Game called Imagine Hockey based on that same old game but re-invented to include many other features, actions, and dramatic plays.
While at it the designer also invented the HOCKEY TEAM MACHINE where hockey board gamers can create their own players and teams from any hockey stats available. Included with any purchase of Imagine Hockey.
